New laws go into effect on January 1st of each year, unless otherwise specified. Regulations implementing the new laws can lag for years and some changes are “self-implementing” and never go into regulation.
Given this, staying apprised of changes and compliant with new rules can be a challenge. To help, CALA provides members with summaries of current new laws, as well as new laws from recent years and an archive of DSS implementation plans. Access to these resources is a benefit of membership.
Once DSS releases their official Implementation Plans, CALA will distribute them to members immediately. In the meantime, we encourage you to review the CALA bill summaries along with the bill language itself, and start making changes as soon as possible in order to be in full compliance when the law takes effect.
